Radiation Safety Occupational Exposure is delivered as a scheduled, moderated webinar. Sessions run twice a day, at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Central, every day except Thursday. The scheduled block is 4 hours, and 3.5 hours of recorded attendance are required for credit. There is no post-test and no quiz — attendance is the requirement, and a moderator is in the room throughout for questions.
Learning objectives
After attending this activity, participants will be able to:
- 1Identify the sources of occupational exposure in radiography, fluoroscopy and interventional suites.
- 2Apply time, distance and shielding to a scattered-radiation field and predict the effect on personal dose.
- 3Describe the personal monitoring devices in common use, where each is worn, and how the reports are interpreted.
- 4State the current occupational dose limits, including the limits for the lens of the eye, the extremities and the declared pregnant worker.
- 5Explain the ALARA programme, investigation levels and the actions taken when a dose report exceeds them.
