Mammography Imaging of the Breast & Positioning is delivered as a scheduled, moderated webinar. Sessions run twice a day, at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Central, every day except Thursday. The scheduled block is 6 hours, and 5.3 hours of recorded attendance are required for credit. There is no post-test and no quiz — attendance is the requirement, and a moderator is in the room throughout for questions.
Learning objectives
After attending this activity, participants will be able to:
- 1Identify the anatomy of the breast and describe how it is represented in each standard projection.
- 2Position the craniocaudal and mediolateral oblique views to meet the accepted image quality criteria.
- 3Perform the supplementary projections — spot compression, magnification, exaggerated CC, cleavage and axillary tail — and state the indication for each.
- 4Explain the role of compression in image quality and dose, and describe how patient tolerance is managed.
- 5Evaluate a mammogram against the MQSA image-quality criteria and identify the positioning fault behind a failed image.
- 6Adapt technique and positioning for implants, post-surgical breasts and patients with limited mobility.
